Thanksgiving

In honor of Thanksgiving, I wanted to do a blog post reflecting what I’m thankful for this year. This year has been a monumental year for me. A lot has happened good and bad. Many lessons have been learned, tears have been shed, and laughter has been shared.

Throughout it all, God has been with me. He is the biggest thing I am thankful for this year, and I will continue being thankful for Him every single day for the rest of my life. God has never once left my side, He has continuously loved me and forgiven me, even when I couldn’t understand. The great thing about God is He loves us despite of how we are. His love can’t be found in anyone or anything else.  I will spend the rest of my life loving God and being loved in return.

Just as God has been there for me, so has my family. I may not have always wanted their advice and I might of hung up the phone a few times. Yet throughout it all, my family has forgiven me and has never given up having a relationship with me. The thing about family is, they will tell you things you don’t want to hear. They will tell you the truth… no matter how much it may hurt. They will be there for you and will help you when you need it most. Family is very important to have in your life. I’m so glad I have mine and I’m thankful for them every day even if we don’t always talk as much as I’d like.

Another thing I’m thankful for is I got out of a situation that was leading me nowhere. I left the boy who broke my heart behind in this small town. I left people who I thought were my friends. I left the place that had the cute, little, small college I went to.  I left behind the place and the people that I once cared about… To discover that it was only a tiny part of my story and far better things are coming. That town, that boy, those people, and that job… all taught me in their own different way… I deserve so much better and so much more!! I’m thankful for everything I learned from those people and from that town. But above it all, I’m thankful for the fact that I woke up, that I saw the truth and acted. I’m so happy I got out! I’m happy I left because I will never go back!

I’m thankful for the new people that have come into my life this year. I’m thankful for my beautiful, sweet friend, Ana. I’m happy she taught me about makeup. I’m thankful for her kindness and glad I know someone like her. I’m thankful for all the nice people I’ve met who have given me rides when needed, not charging me a dime.

I’m thankful for the jobs I’ve had. Each one has been different and interesting to do.

I’m thankful for the church that I belong to, Grace church. I love the music, the atmosphere, and the feeling I get worshiping God there.

I’m thankful for the fact that I’m here on this earth. I’m thankful I get to wake up everyday and live my life.

I’m thankful for the fact that I was born in the United States of America. I’m thankful I have the freedom I have. There are people in the world who don’t get to have freedom, people who don’t get to live in a country that has a structured government, people who don’t have water to drink or homes to go to. It’s not a consequence I was born where I was. I am thankful to the place I get to call home.

I’m thankful for all the soldiers out there serving the United States of America.

These are just some things I am thankful for. I have so much more I am thankful for but these are just the main things. What are you thankful for?
Happy Thanksgiving. 🙂
