Acceptance made easy.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8New Living Translation (NLT)

A new season is among us. The leaves are changing as I write this and the air is becoming more cool. Upon us a new night is here. Before we know it a new day has awakened. Everything around us seems to be constantly changing, doesn’t it? Seasons change. Days turn into weeks. Weeks turn into months. Months turn into years. Time just doesn’t stop. And neither do we. Because we even find ourselves changing with time. Physically and mentally we change. In many aspects we are growing. We are becoming new.

For the past year, I’ve been becoming new. Each day I’m not quite the same as yesterday. You see, I’m in a new chapter in my life. I started this year out with only the title of this new chapter. Now I find myself a third of the way in the pages. I’ve realized who I am and who I don’t want to be. I’ve discovered there is growth available to me. I’ve discovered there are things about myself that I can change and others I can’t. I have seen others around me, struggling with the same thing; acceptance. I mean, how can one truly learn to accept themselves?

That’s  just it. We will probably never fully accept ourselves. We will probably always find something we dislike about ourselves. And if we don’t find anything then someone else gladly will. That’s the cold, hard truth. But guess what?

We don’t have to accept ourselves. We don’t have to try so hard to fit the mold society says we have to. We don’t have to be at war with ourselves, always finding something wrong with who we are or always wanting to “change”.  I think all we have to do is look to The One who sees us for all we are and does infinitely more than just merely accepting us. So if Jesus Christ can accept us, then maybe we should accept ourselves and others. Because no one else is perfect and neither are you. But you are perfectly loved and accepted by Him. Don’t you think its time you accepted that truth and starting living in it?

Ps: new writing style I tried out tonight. I defiantly am liking it! I figured it was time to switch it up because ya know, I’m constantly growing.  😉 (see what I did there? Lol) Let me know what y’all think. Blessings.

Writing to encourage others of the hope that rests in Jesus Christ. We are free, loved and worthy because of HIM. Some things I enjoy: being at the ocean and listening to the peaceful sounds of the waves, getting lost in nature and exploring Gods beautiful creation, writing and sharing my thoughts with others in the hopes of making a positive difference in their lives. I enjoy this life and I hope you'll join me in this journey! 1 Timothy 4:12, "Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity."
